Rev. Daniel Thews
Pastor Dan has served Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton for 20 years, but his roots there go back much further. Born and raised in Appleton, Faith was Dan’s home church growing up. Prior to Faith, Dan served as Associate Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, Leavenworth, Kansas, and as Campus Pastor at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. His education includes a BA from Concordia University River Forest, and a Master’s in Divinity, Concordia Seminary St. Louis, where he concentrated in practical theology. In addition, in 2003, Dan graduated from the Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI) and is working towards a Doctoral degree focused on transitioning static, maintenance-focused churches into growing mission-minded ministry stations. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Concordia University, teaching theology classes at the university extension in Appleton, and served three terms as the North Wisconsin District Secretary. Pastor Dan and his wife, Kelly, a physical education teacher, have two girls, Kylie, a student at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and Kami, a student at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Pastor Dan loves playing basketball, softball and tennis, as well as cheering on the Packers as they continue their dominance of the Bears and Vikings!
